Establishes ties to NJIT’s Enterprise Development Center
NEWARK, N.J., March 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Phone.com, a cloud-based phone company focused on the needs of small business and entrepreneurs, is moving its headquarters from Livingston, N.J., to Newark.
Phone.com will now be located in the Enterprise Development Center at the New Jersey institute of Technology (NJIT). With ties to NJIT, Phone.com strengthens its presence in Newark – New Jersey’s largest city – and contributes to the growing technology sector here.
The Enterprise Development Center is an incubator of many New Jersey startups. As a company working for the underserved startup market, Phone.com hopes to build relationships with existing and fledgling startups as a result of the move.
“We have been looking forward to this move for a long time,” said Phone.com CEO Ari Rabban. “With our offices in Newark, we will be able to build stronger ties with the technology community and will also have closer contact with the students and graduates of NJIT, who have an illustrious history of technology innovation. “
The move from Livingston to Newark comes as a result of recent funding that Phone.com received. The company recently closed on an investment from ff Venture Capital and the New Jersey Economic Development Authority’s Edison Innovation Venture Capital Growth Fund to propel the company’s goal of increased growth.
The new funding will be used to drive customers and revenue, job creation in marketing and sales positions, and technology development.
Founded in 2007, Phone.com is a cloud-based telecommunications company that serves the needs of small business and entrepreneurs, typically those with fewer than 20 lines. The company provides affordable, feature-rich business communications services that customers initiate, control and customize themselves, and it emphasizes around-the-clock, U.S.-based customer service.
Phone.com was recently recognized by INC500 as one of the fastest growing telecom companies in the United States. A veteran telecom services innovator, Rabban is a member of the New Jersey Technology Council.
“We are committed to helping the technology industry grow in New Jersey in any way we can,” said Rabban. “New Jersey has helped Phone.com grow to the company it is today, and we are ready to give back.”
